The year 2020 has arrived! You don't have to look very closely to realize styles have changed a lot over the past decade or two. This applies to jewelry as much as it does to clothing and other fashion accessories. So what cool jewelry trends should you be looking for in 2020? Here are a few.
Tortoiseshell designs were really popular in the 1990s, too, but mostly when it came to clothing. Now, you're starting to see some tortoiseshell jewelry emerging on the scene. You'll see this in the form of big, hanging pendant necklaces and eye-catching jewelry. One of the nice things about tortoiseshell is that it is neutral and will match most colors, so you can get a lot of wear out of it.
Hoop earrings go in and out of style. Silver and gold hoops were in for a while, but now they are mostly out of fashion. Colorful loops made from acrylic are hot new jewelry trends. If you have multiple holes in your ears, you can wear a couple of different hoops in different colors. Big hoops make a more dramatic statement, and smaller hoops are more subdued for everyday wear.
Necklaces that proudly display your first or last initial are also really popular! You can look for ones in which the letter is molded from metal. There are also necklaces that have plaque-like pendant that are painted with an initial. Usually, you would wear your own initial — but sometimes, you can wear the initial of your partner or of a loved one who passed.
A few years ago, almost every ring you saw in the jewelry store would have a gem in it. Now, jewelry makers are getting more creative. The embellishment is now coming from the ring band material itself. You can find bands that are woven like basket-weave, some that have knots molded into them, and more.
The beach look is back in 2020! Necklaces, earrings, and bracelets with big, natural shells are all the rage right now. Conch shells are the most popular, but you can also find clam shells on a lot of jewelry items.
The next time you visit the jewelry store, keep an eye out for these popular 2020 looks. You can add a few of them to your collection to make your whole look appear more modern and hip.
